SOWA Half Corked Marathon 2010

South Okanagan Wineries Association is planning on producing a Canadian wine marathon aptly named The SOWA ½ Corked Marathon May 29 & 30 2010.

It is fashioned after the French Medoc event but the course will be a bit shorter distance than France. http://www.marathondumedoc.com/

We are ironing out the fun details and course layout and will launch all the info during fall wine festival along with the South Okanagan Wineries Association brand new website .

  1. Since we have to work with the lay of our local land, the route is just under a half marathon at 18km (vs 21.1 km). But we liked the name too. Details soon to be released, and registration can start.

  4. A group of us just ran the race. We've run races all over the world including the famed Marathon du Medoc and the consensus was that this was the most fun we've had yet! A total blast! This will definitely be an annual event for us.

The big question is: How soon can we sign up for next year?

My friend and I had a fabulous time. It was sooo much fun. The wine was wonderful, of course, and both the dinner and lunch were great. The nibblies at the wineries were a treat. The course was well marked. Unfortunately we did not dress up but next year we will for sure. I cannot say enough on how much we enjoyed the whole experience.

    Thank you

  7. Our group also ran the Marathon du Medoc and we are extatic that we will be able to get a group to go to Oliver. I just want to say that after the devastating mudslide I hope that the 2011 race will be a go. I know our group would be more that willing to add a fundraising portion to the run to help anyone affected.
